Red & Yellow

The red light stayed on through the night.
It’s what we share.
Conversations, laughs, pizzas, hugs, homes.
In red and yellow.
We feel red and yellow so we drink in red and yellow.
In red and yellow aprons, we stay here together.
We take it in turns to roll out the pizza dough.
Sleeves rolled up.
Toppings? Cheddar cheese, roasted peppers, homemade kimchi, nduja, sweetcorn, pepperoni? Gathered around the oven, watching over my pizza, your pizza, our pizza.
The oven glows in warmth too.
He puts his arm around her and talks about how much he loved her food while they were going to school together. Delicious food prepared by your friend.
It was something to look forward to.
